Logic of English

Last year I reviewed Logic of English   and absolutely love it.  I have people ask me questions about whether it is good for all kids with special needs, and when they should start it, among other things.  So while in my review I told you about how it worked, here I am going to tell you about what all they have to offer.  I am not an affiliate or getting compensated in any way.  It's just a great product and I want my readers to have as much information as possible so they can decide if it will work well for them. Logic of English has a vastly different approach to learning about English.  You can read that in my review .  They also offer a large variety of information on their website as well as several sample pages for every book they offer.  Read everything and view the video.  It shares a lot about how it works. I reviewed the Logic of English Essentials curriculum.  It can be used for five to six year old students who are lea...

Schoolhouse Review: In the Hands of a Child

As much I love hands-on learning you would think I would have tried a lap book by now.  However, they seemed rather complicated so not knowing how to even do it I have shied away from them. Recently I was able to review the lap book project pack Words, Words, Words - Using a Dictionary & Thesaurus from In the Hands of a Child so I thought this might be a good time to try one. Because lap books are something you can hang on to for quite some time it becomes a handy tool for review....

Schoolhouse Rock Pronouns Fiasco

Image
A couple of years ago my son Tim and his girlfriend Chelsie were cast in the play Schoolhouse Rock Live.  That's Tim in the front on the right and Chelsie is on the top on the left. And here they are with Gess after the show. They did an excellent job and it really reminded me what a great tool those songs and videos can be.  Gess has since memorized the preamble to the constitution and knows how a bill becomes law among many other things.  I really found Schoolhouse Rock helpful in learning parts of speech and grammar rules. I personally liked how in the play a few of the songs were preformed more slowly making it easier for Gess to understand them.  Tim and Chelsie helped teach the songs to Gess that way.  One was Counting by Fives and the other was Rufus Xavier Sarsaparilla which is their pronoun song.  Here is the fast version of that last song. Recently I have noticed that Gess has been using pronouns so much she has ditched proper...
