Join the Schoolhouse Review Crew!

I started this blog to share homeschooling resources with families, especially those who homeschool children with special needs.  In my blogging I stumbled upon an opportunity to be on the Schoolhouse Review Crew .  That has become one of the biggest blessings in our homeschool journey.  Being on the crew has exposed me to many homeschool products that I might not have found on my own and it has given me an opportunity to share those resources with all of you in my reviews ! Are you a homeschool blogger with an active blog?  Want to try some new homeschool resources and tell your readers about them?  Want to be part of an incredible homeschool community?  Then consider joining the Schoolhouse Review Crew !  Visit their website for more details and requirements.  The deadline for applications is November 8.

Challenge has been met!

I want to thank all of my readers for bearing with me this month as I took the Ultimate Blog Challenge which had me post one blog a day for the entire month of July.  With my last post scheduled for tomorrow I figured today would be a good day to celebrate!  Blogging is hard, especially when your topic is based around a certain subject.  Coming up with ideas and things to share is a real challenge.  Participating in the UBC helped me really work at keeping material fresh and new.  I know many of my posts were personal, but as I have said before I think it is important to see what is going on in my daughter's life.  Every experience she goes through is part of her learning process.  Seeing what she is capable of is part of advocacy for children with special needs and in particular Down syndrome. Now that the challenge is over I will go back to my regular schedule of blogging.  My personal goal is to post 3 non-review posts per week. That may no...

About Special Connection Homeschool

Image
We decided to homeschool our daughter before she was born but when we found out she had Down syndrome we weren't so sure if we would still be able to do that.  However, by the time Gess was ready for school we not only knew that we were capable of homeschooling, we were convinced it was the best choice for us. The hardest part of homeschooling a child with special needs was finding resources to use.  I was constantly on the internet searching for information and ideas about how to teach Gess.  There was one time I found a great resource on teaching children with Down syndrome to read.  A few months later I lost the link.  I went back to search for it but and after hours and hours with no results I finally gave up. That's when I decided I not only needed to organize my information better, I needed to share it with others. I figured if I had this much trouble finding information, maybe others did too. Special Connection Homeschool was sparked from that idea....

The Ultimate Blog Challenge

Image
This month I have entered the Ultimate Blog Challenge!  I have been blogging for a few years now and am not really sure what I want out of doing it.  I have this blog to share resources, but I am finding that I just love writing for it.  When I found this blog challenge I figured it would help motivate me to blog more and hopefully expand my readership and hook me up with some other great bloggers too.  After all, what good is it to share resources if no one sees them? So, look for at least one post per day for the entire month of July!  For normal months I have been trying to to expand it to at least three per week.  I have been pretty good at that but sometimes it is hard to figure out what to write about.  Hopefully this will give me a boost! If you are a fellow blogger you should hop on over and join the challenge. I don't think it's too late!
